Privacy policy for plample for Amazon
Last updated 5 October 2026
plample for Amazon is a Chrome extension made by plample (plample.com, "we"). On Amazon it hides sponsored results, checks whether reviews look genuine, summarises products, finds the same product at other shops and sends sale alerts. This page covers what the extension reads, what it sends to us and to the services we use, how long we keep it and how to have it deleted.
The short version
- We don't sell your information, show you ads or use your information for advertising.
- The extension only runs on Amazon (amazon.co.uk and amazon.com) and on plample's own sign-in pages. It doesn't read other websites or your browsing history.
- It never reads your Amazon account details, addresses, orders or payment details.
- Most of it works without an account. You only need to sign in (with Google) for AI summaries, comparisons, checking other shops, syncing your cart and sale alerts.
- Our usage statistics are anonymous and never include anything you type.
What the extension reads on Amazon
On Amazon product and search pages, the extension reads what the page shows: product titles, prices, ratings, reviews, seller names and pictures. It uses them to hide sponsored results, label reviews and fill in the plample side panel.
If you choose "Import my Amazon basket", it reads the products in your Amazon basket (name, price and picture) to copy them into your plample cart. If you choose "Add to Amazon basket", it presses Amazon's own Add to basket button for you, inside your own Amazon session. Amazon handles the rest, including any questions it asks, such as whether you want protection cover.
What stays on your computer
The extension keeps these in Chrome's storage on your computer: your settings (including your postcode or ZIP code, if you add one), your plample cart and notes while you're signed out, the products you track, recent "Find it elsewhere" results (for 24 hours), and a random ID used for anonymous statistics. Removing the extension deletes all of it.
What we receive if you don't sign in
- Prices.When you open an Amazon product page, the extension sends us the product's ASIN (Amazon's product code), the store, the price and the currency. We use these to build price history. Nothing that identifies you is sent with them.
- Review checks.To check whether a product's reviews look genuine, the extension sends us the product's details and the reviews shown on the page. The result is stored against the product for 24 hours. We use your IP address for up to an hour, in memory only, to stop the service being overloaded, and we don't save it.
- Price history.Which product you're looking at, so we can show its price chart.
What we keep if you sign in
Sign-in uses your Google account through Clerk, our sign-in provider. We store your email address and your Clerk account ID. Clerk also holds your name and profile picture from Google, which the extension shows in its menu.
While you're signed in, we also store:
- your plample cart: each product's ASIN, title, price and picture, when you added it, its place in the list and any notes you write;
- the products you track, and the brands, sellers, categories and products you watch, with the price drop you want to hear about;
- whether you turned on sale alert emails and when, the price drops we've found or emailed you about, and a code for your unsubscribe link.
We use this to sync your cart between your devices and to send the alerts you ask for. We share it only with the services listed below that do this work for us.
AI summaries and comparisons
When you ask for an AI summary, we send the product's details and reviews, and anything you typed into "What are you looking for", to OpenAI, which writes the summary. OpenAI doesn't use information sent through its API to train its models.
When you compare products, we send their details, their review check results, what you typed into "What are you looking for" and your notes on those products to OpenAI and to TypeSafe's Jev model, which we reach through Vercel's AI Gateway. Jev picks the best match, and OpenAI writes the explanation. Please keep personal details out of your notes and out of "What are you looking for".
Finding other shops
"Find it elsewhere" searches Google Shopping through Bright Data, using the product's title. If you've added a postcode or ZIP code, we send it to postcodes.io (UK) or Zippopotam.us (US) to find your area, and the search uses your postcode district (such as "BA2") or that area's map coordinates. We keep the results, with the postcode they were for, for 6 hours so the same search isn't run twice. They aren't linked to your account.
If you watch every shop selling a product, we check that product's shops once a day and keep their prices. That record is about the product, not about you.
Sale alert emails
We only email you if you turn sale alerts on. Resend sends the emails for us, so it receives your email address and what's in each email. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe link, and you can also turn alerts off in the extension's settings.
Anonymous usage statistics
The extension sends anonymous usage events to Google Analytics so we can see which features people use and fix the ones that don't work. Events cover things like products viewed on Amazon, products added to your Amazon basket or plample cart, prices tracked, watches added, comparisons run and which parts of the side panel you open. An event can include a product's ASIN, title, price and brand, and which Amazon store it's on.
Events are tied to a random ID made when you install the extension, not to your plample account, your email or your Amazon account. The only location sent is your country, which the extension works out from your browser's time zone or language, never your postcode or address. We never send anything you type: notes, review searches, "What are you looking for" and your postcode all stay out.
Google receives your IP address with each event, as it would with any web request, but Google Analytics doesn't log or store IP addresses. We send the events with advertising personalisation turned off, and Google Analytics keeps them for up to 14 months.
